
Blake Ellis is an associate professor of history at Lone Star College-CyFair. A 20th century historian by training, he completed his PhD from Rice University in December, 2011. He also holds master’s degrees from Baylor University and Rice University. He has written extensively on the rise of the Christian Right as a force in US politics and the connection between evangelical religion and the politics of gender and sexuality. Some of his past articles include “An Alternative Politics: Texas Baptists and the Rise of the Christian Right” in Southwestern Historical Quarterly and “After Maine: Can Houston Provide the LGBT Rights Movement With a Much-Needed Victory?” at History News Network. Passionate about teaching and engrossed in his work on 20th century politics, his proudest role is as an activist for human rights and social justice.
