It’s that time of year when students are arriving and returning to colleges and universities across the United States. Some are seasoned and know how the higher ed game is played; some are not as sure about their role on campus as a student; and some students are completely green and unaware that their job is now to be a college student. This installment of #SaturdaySchool @ProfRagsdale and @DrCompton give their best advice to new and returning college students.
We have some important tips, advice, and resources for college students, but also insights to the mind of professors that I wish I would have known as a young college student. If you know someone headed back to their college or university or someone getting there for the first time, you will want to share this #SaturdaySchool chat with them.
Here are five #SaturdaySchool take-aways that should not be missed:
- Yes, you have to read the assigned books AND attend class.
- Practice professionalism when speaking to professors.
- Use the resources and privileges that come with being a student at your university.
- Learn to manage your time effectively
- Own your education.
Read through the chat below, and share your advice for the new and returning college student.
